This is a one to two-sentence argument you are making in your research paper about your topic based on the evidence you have found in academic peer-reviewed sources.

If you have selected a historical site for your paper, your thesis may address issues such as but not limited to the history, visual display, cultural significance, artistic and religious influences, connections to political authority, and/or contemporary concerns about the site. These sites are a fascinating source of political, social, and cultural information about the society that constructed them as well as the legacy they left behind for future generations. Contemporary concerns such as conservation, commercialization, pollution, and the coopting of a site for specific political or religious agendas demonstrates how these sites remain relevant to their country?s economy, preservation of their history, and how historical narratives about these sites continue to evolve. One or more of these issues may become the focus of your research paper. If you have selected a different topic, consider what type of argument you would like to make. Is there a lesser known aspect of the topic you would like to highlight, are you suggesting a different interpretation of the topic as compared to other narratives? Carefully consider what position you would like to take in your paper shaped by evidence drawn from academic sources.

DO NOT USE OUTSIDE RESOURCES : Remember that academic peer-reviewed sources can be found using the JSTOR and EBSCO online library databases ONLY

to conclude, a thesis:

suggests an answer to a question you have posed as a result of your reading
is specific rather than general
is debatable (that is, asserts a conclusion with which a reader might disagree)
can be supported by evidence from the sources

The Great Wall of China
Since ancient days, various administrations have built walls to demarcate borders, safeguard kingdoms, and keep away unwanted people. Currently, walls are being constructed as structures of art or memorials, and in turn, these walls have acted as tourist attraction sites. One of the ancient and famous walls is the Great Wall of China.
Description
Chang Cheng or The Great Wall of China is enormous. The wall stretches from the east, Yellow sea, to the west passing near the capital Beijing. The wall winds like a snake through the varied terrain of China. There are smaller walls originating and extending from the main wall. [ Graham, Henry. ?The Great Wall of China.? Ambit, no. 189 (2007): 48?49. http://www.jstor.org/stable/44342740.
]Conservative estimates show the wall is roughly 2,400 miles and has a thickness of 15-30 feet. Its height is approximately 25 feet. The Rouran people lived in the north and grew powerful, prompting the Wei people to construct the 621 miles of the Great Wall. The wall was majorly built for political reasons, protecting against the Rouran peoples who were invading the Wei Dynasty. [ Shastri, Veda.?New seven wonders in 360. The Great Wall. Why I am Interested in the Topic
I am interested in the Great Wall of China because it is rated among the seven construction wonders of the world. Aside from its extensive history, its exceptional architectural flair and massive size attracted me. I also would love to visit one day and explore my photography interest as well as test my courage. Contemporarily, we can explore the topic as a historical military tool used to safeguard kingdoms or a present-day commercial tourist attraction site.
Research Questions
1.Why was the wall constructed?
2.Who were the labourers, where were they drawn and what were the materials used to construct the wall? Indeed it has lasted for long, over 2500 years.
3.Did it serve its intended purpose?
In summary, the Great Wall of China did not only protect kingdoms but has lasted long enough to attract tourists and impact the Chinese economy. Therefore, it will forever remain a historical site and universe heritage.
