Step 2: Research
Go to a social media site (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or another of your choice). Find the newsfeed and choose a story. Read it and use the questions from the Ten Questions for Fake News Detection to review and assess the information.

Step 3: Answer the following questions
Share your news story (include a link) and summarize its contents.
Answer the following:
Which of these 10 strategies do you employ already?
Which (if any) of these questions surprise you? Why or why not?
What can you do to ensure that the news and information you use to form your opinions is accurate?
How will you try to become aware of and overcome confirmation bias when you respond to news and information?
Why is this important? What effect does the way we all consume news and media have on our society?
What Connections and take-aways do you have from the other articles/viewings? How could you apply and connect the articles, viewings, and Ten questions to your track/future career? Reference the articles/viewings at least 3 times).
What you will turn in
You will complete a 3-6 page paper that includes the following:

Cover Page (APA formatting)
Heading: Introduction (1 paragraph previewing the paper?s key takeaways)
Heading: News Story (Use the name of your topic as the heading) Share your news story (include a link) and summarize its contents. (1-2 paragraphs)
Heading: 10 strategies (1-2 paragraphs describing which strategies you already employ, which questions surprised you and why or why not.
Heading: Accuracy in the News (1-3 paragraphs that explore what you can do to ensure that the news and information you use to form your opinions is accurate. How will you try to become aware of and overcome confirmation bias when you respond to news and information?
Heading: Importance (1-3 paragraphs explaining why is this important? What effect does the way we all consume news and media have on our society? How might viewing a story from one resource lead to radically different conclusions and beliefs about an issue? What could/should be done to change this/if anything?
Heading: Connections and Application (2-3+ paragraphs What Connections and take-aways do you have from the other articles/viewings? How could you apply and connect the articles, viewings, and Ten questions to your track/future career? Reference the articles/viewings at least 3 times).
