INTRODUCTION:

The seven southern states seceded from the Union and after Confederate forces fired on Union troops in Fort Sumter, four more joined the original seven. The Civil War had begun April 12, 1861. Both the North and South thought it would be a short war. They were both tragically mistaken. By reading Chapter 13 and watching the Ken Burns’ “Civil War” episode, make a determination who you will think will win and state your case with examples. I do not want you to use a website that does the thinking for you so be careful not to google an answer because it should be your own work if you want a good grade. Only use the sources that I have provided, and you decide who may have the upper hand. There are strong cases for both for different reasons. As always be cautious on citing any sources that you do use.
